Cathy Clayton began her studies of harp and paino at an early age. In 1990, she received a D.S. in biology from the University of Utah and soon after pursued a B.A. in music.
Following graduation, Cathy began studying harp with Dr. Carrol McLaughlin and has continued to study privately with her distinguished teacher for the past 14 years. In 2000, Cathy received her M.A. in musicology from the University of Utah.
As a professional harpist, she has performed throughout Utah, Arizona, and Northern California, including numerous performances for the Utah Governor's Mansino during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. After spending three years teaching music theory and history at Salt Lake Community College, Cathy decided to continue her advanced studies in music.
She currently holds a teaching fellowship at the University of California at Davis, where she is pursuing her Ph.D. in musicology.
